Mobile Massage Therapy After
A Motor Vehicle Accident

Once a car accident has occurred, the resulting insurance claim process, vehicle repairs, and pain can be extremely stressful. Without proper and timely treatment of your injuries, the possibility of chronic pain and limited range of motion down the road can result. It is essential to start treatment for post-crash injuries as soon as possible in order to facilitate a full recovery.

The following mobile massage therapy techniques we’ll discuss are very beneficial in aiding in your recovery from an automobile accident.

Mobile Massage Therapy after a Car Accident Denver
Neuromuscular Massage

The operation of the muscles and nerves together in the body is known as neuromuscular function. This system is responsible for controlling movement and providing sensation to the body. Neuromuscular disorders can result in a wide range of symptoms, such as muscle weakness, stiffness, spasms, and tremors. Treatment for these symptoms typically involves medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle changes.

Neuromuscular massage therapy is known for its ability to realign the nervous and skeletal systems of the body. Our Colorado licensed Massage Therapists are able to apply pressure to areas that have low blood flow and adhesions. This type of massage has been proven to reduce pain, muscle spasms and congestion, as well as improve postural issues. It is especially helpful in treating conditions such as whiplash, muscle imbalance, nerve compression, and restriction.

Deep Tissue

Deep layers of muscles can be accessed through deep tissue massage, which is a therapeutic technique used to treat a variety of medical conditions. This type of massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues in the body in order to reach areas that are not addressed through regular massage. This approach is especially helpful for people with chronic pain and tension in the body.

Deep tissue massage is a term that is often used, though it is not necessarily something that everyone has the necessary skill or strength to perform. It is important to find a certified massage therapist who is capable of giving this kind of treatment for up to one hour of care.

“True deep tissue” massage can be beneficial to your recovery if you have developed scarring from a car accident. This type of massage is all about applying sustained pressure and slow, deep strokes. It focuses on the inner layers of the muscles and ligaments, helping to ease tension and break up scar tissue. Plus, it can even help make healing quicker as it boosts circulation and reduces swelling.

Swedish Massage

One of the most renowned massage techniques is Swedish massage, which is geared toward providing relaxation and utilizes five principal strokes that include rubbing, kneading, vibration, tapping, and friction. This style is less intense than deep tissue massages and is used to ease tight muscles that are causing physical pain and hindering daily activities. After an accident, the soothing effects of a Swedish massage can be even more beneficial than usual. It can relax the nervous system, boost and aid healing, and significantly reduce tenderness and pain.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are specific spots in the body that can cause pain when they become aggravated. These points can be found in muscles and can be quite painful when compressed. They are commonly referred to as “trigger points” because they can cause a sensation similar to that of a trigger being pulled.

Untangling a knot in a necklace can be compared to trigger point therapy, which is used to “undo” the reaction of the muscles after a car crash where they tend to spasm and/or become rigid and tense. This kind of massage helps to alleviate pain and tension, and it also enhances the range of motion. As trigger points are created by trauma to the muscle, this is an essential method for treating injuries such as whiplash, which may cause growing neck pain and stiffness.

An experienced massage therapist can identify these key areas and will be aware of when to apply pressure to the trigger points, and then release the concentrated pressure, allowing the area to loosen as it profoundly modifies the muscle’s memory.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a method of releasing muscular tension to improve mobility, reduce pain, and improve overall well-being. This technique involves the application of gentle, sustained pressure to the soft tissues until release is achieved. This process can help to minimize trigger points, improve circulation, improve flexibility, and reduce pain. Myofascial Release helps to restore balance to the body, allowing for optimal function and health.

The myofascial tissues in the body provide support to the muscles, and when an automobile accident happens, these tissues become tight and tender. Myofascial release massage works to alleviate the strain in these tissues and break up the knots of muscle tissue, thus reducing pain and increasing the range of motion by relaxing and stretching these supportive tissues.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is mobile massage therapy?

A massage therapy session typically involves the practitioner applying various techniques to the client’s body with their hands, fingers, elbows, forearms, and sometimes feet. It is a therapeutic practice with the purpose of alleviating pain, reducing stress and anxiety, improving circulation, and aiding in relaxation.

The use of massage therapy has a long history of being recognized for its therapeutic effects. It is not just a source of relaxation, but a natural healthcare practice with lasting results.

The main purpose of a massage is to provide a physical manipulation of the body’s soft tissues, such as muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, and joints. This kind of kneading can help to lessen stress, reduce pain, calm the nervous system, and promote well-being.

This type of massage therapy is quite versatile. From the relaxing Swedish massage to the more intense deep tissue massage, there is something for everyone.

A massage experience may evoke thoughts of a relaxing spa day, but it is much more significant than that. Massage therapy is actually a fundamental part of healthcare all around the world. Our program offers Mobile Massage Therapy, which means we come to YOU!

What should I expect during my massage therapy sessions?

Your massage therapist will let you know what to expect during your sessions, and how many treatments you require to achieve optimal results. Your provider will create a massage plan that best matches your individual needs, which may include the techniques discussed above. These techniques my change with each massage, as your body begins to change during your recovery process.

The providers at Rocky Mountain Accident Care (RMAC) may recommend other natural treatments in addition to massage therapy, such as physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, massage, heat or ice therapy, ultrasound therapy, or interferential nerve stimulation.

The staff at RMAC try their best to avoid surgery but may refer you to a specialist if surgery gives you the best chance of making a full recovery. If you’ve been injured in an accident, call us for an evaluation today or book an appointment online.

Who Pays for My Medical Bills?

Generally, there are three ways your medical bills can be paid if you are injured in an accident in the State of Colorado.

MEDICAL PAYMENT COVERAGE

Under Colorado’s mandatory MED PAY statute, there is a minimum of $5,000 dollars of automatic MED PAY sold as part of every insurance policy and renewal. The only
way a policy will not have at least the minimum coverage ($5,000.00) is if it is waived in writing by the policyholder.

MED PAY, through auto insurance, will pay for medical bills regardless of fault. You may have MED PAY and not even know it. If you are unsure if you have MED PAY, we will be happy to provide an insurance policy review for you.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Your health insurance may pay for medical bills incurred while treating injuries resulting from an auto accident, however, with increasing deductibles and higher co-pays, you may find your finances stretched to the breaking point. As with all medical treatment, when you use your health insurance, you will incur up-front costs such as a deductible or copay as your network out-of-pocket expenses. You may also exhaust any of your policy-limited medical benefits for the calendar year.

Lastly, most health insurance companies may not cover certain necessary services including but not limited to imaging, specialist referrals, and massage therapy.

LIEN

You may receive the medical treatment that you need on a healthcare provider’s lien. A lien is a document that allows you to receive the care you need with no up-front, out-of-pocket expenses. Typically, the lien is handled directly between the medical provider and the at-fault party’s insurance and/or through the assistance of an attorney. The medical provider is paid at the time of settlement by the at-fault insurance carrier and/or through the attorney.

Ultimately, the at-fault driver and his insurance company are responsible for the paying of all of your medical bills. However, they will not pay your bills as you get them, and health providers cannot bill them directly. Don’t be misled by an insurance adjuster or representative who promises to take care of your medical bills. You will be disappointed.
